Attracting Cancer?

I received a great question the other day that leads to so much more and so I had to share it. PLUS – I want to hear your responses.

The question was related to women doing self breast examines and if looking for a lump was actually attracting the cancer. If thoughts become things and we attract and create by what we think about, then questions like this should come up.

The answer is both yes and no.

No – Just because you look for strange lumps in your body for 5 minutes does not mean you will attract cancer. In fact not only should we know our own bodies, we should celebrate them.

Yes – We attract that which we give significant thought to when combined with great emotion. Therefore, if you think about cancer all the time and how you don’t want to get it and how your mother or grandmother got it and about all the news stories about it, and this is thought is entered into with fear; then you are asking the Universe to give you cancer. This is no different than not wanting so many bills that you can’t pay yet you think about the bills you can’t pay all the time and attract more bills you can’t pay.

This question leads me down another path.

Does the media and our world wide obsession with reality and things like over weight children, global warming, sicknesses that are on the rise, and natural catastrophes cause us to actually be attracting more of it?

In the last 50 years we have significantly increased our awareness of world wide happenings and news stories and it seems the media likes to focus on the negative, the catastrophic, the scary, and the hurtful. As a result we spend an increasingly larger amount of our energy thinking about these negative things. Maybe we would all be better off if we never watched TV or listened to the radio and we spent that time loving on each other, dreaming about the life we desire, and working in that direction. Sound radical?

I can say with certainty that the power of attraction increases in community. Therefore, I must petition you to put on the garment of love every day and in every way, focus your sights on the hope of the life you were designed for, and step out in faith on that hope.

It doesn’t get any better than that!
